Alphabet for the Pandemic (1/2)
Anxiety
An uncomfortable feeling
That we are all overflowed with
But in the end, is it real?
Bacteria
Onto your hands these microscopic creatures cling
But on foamy soap they all glide back
Into the sink —splash!
Cluster
The virus is almost gone
An ounce of freedom is to come
And suddenly— it’s back!
Danger
Invisible, yet omnipresent
Whom to trust? When to flee?
A cough, a sneeze— a disease!
Earth
Grand Mother of us all
Needs a rest—
How much more can she take?
Family
Sacred,
That’s what family is
A special bond— unbreakable.
Garden
Parcel of pure heaven,
A caterpillar on a twig—
Suddenly turns into a beautiful butterfly.
Hope
A glimmer of life
In the end of a dark corridor
—Keep on walking towards the light.
Ignorance
Unawareness, coupled to carelessness
—Damage everywhere
A disease spreads.
Joy
Long time no see,
But never forgotten
—Where has it been?
Keyboard
Silence reigns in the open space
Emptiness prevails for another minute
Until suddenly– click! The working day begins.
Lamentation
Lonely at home,
I look up–
An empty street.
Mask
A necessary protection,
A lifesaving piece of cloth
–Lies on the pavement.
Nose
A bottle of perfume
—pop! The lid is unsealed
No smell.
Ocean
A vast open water
Far away from the bustling city
—Whoosh! A wave crashes.
Portrait
A slim wooden brush
Glides on a white canvas
And suddenly— gives it life.
Quarantine
Time is frozen
No noise is to be heard in the city
—a bird tweets.
Recess
A children’s playground
The former joy and laughs
Are now replaced by rules and masks.
Sadness
A teardrop trickling
On a baby’s skin
Suddenly— a pouring rain.
Takeaway
A new kind of restaurant
—Empty yet open
Customers come and go.
Utopia
A safe world
A perfect place for everyone—
A dream.
Vacation
A naked skin
Lying beneath the sun
—A light breeze caresses the grass.
World
It is grand and vast
Ofen divided
Yet always united during hard times.
Xeroderma
Another drop of sanitizer
Hands are dry and red
Until the next comforting balm wave.
Year
How short a moment it takes
For the world to be disrupted
How long for it to be restored?
Zephyr
Branches are slowly shaking
Trees are dancing to the whistling music
— A leaf suddenly falls.

Alphabet for the Pandemic (2/2)
Abashed
Sudden disturbance
coming back to essentials
uproars sounded like Death
Bell
Direly chiming
urging us inside ourselves
–he covered his mouth
Cleanliness
Next to Godliness
dirtiness- it has been felt
rose above the cleanse
Defiance
Alike the sunrise
rising con absurdity
humans as dewdrops
Equanimity
Of soundless waiting
for a truce with the disease
our forces grimly reaped
Fortitude
Much needed in turmoil
workforces against our downfall
not deterring hopes
Ghost
Streets filled with silence
sounds echo of emptiness
nihil reigns supreme
Knowledge
Refusing to die
defiance against the virus
writing remembrances
Larvatus
Larvatus Prodoe
a masked mascaraed within
no feelings outward
Magma
A fiery blazing
immolating our habits
eruption of fears
Nowhere
Never safe inside —
psychosis laid eggs within
— never sound outside
Optimism
Sun hangs high, defying;
man’s alacrity –Yet!
despite that —smiles
Pandemic
Albeit of Greek root
it carried different hues
–of bodies dropping
Queues
War against spirits ―
lining up for crucial goods
forlorn quietus
Reason
Casting rational
against hearts afraid of dying
yet everlasting
Scepticism
The grey city is,
outlandish to hopes and dreams
face-masked –He doubts it
Time
Brevity of days
do aspire of endless waves ―
so confined we wait
Ubiquity
Across all paths lies
a silent killer taking
our lovers and kins
Virus
To and fro bodies
infecting our minds alike
traumas are healing
Waves
An ocean fronting
compos’d of two green waves …
the second deadlier
Xyst
Lulled into calmness
rebirth as a calm ballade –
shaking hands again
Yearning
A forlorn love ―
hades fled the gates so we could kiss
our embraces serene
Zealotry
Locked there is never …
enough to be done –alone
enough to be loved
